Scotland is being battered by its usual January storms. Winds have reached 142mph on the highest summits and have even been recorded at 91mph in the city of Edinburgh. The past few days have seen some hopeful signs that the woeful start to the Scottish Snowsports season might see a reprieve. there has been 40+ cms of snow at numerous resorts and snowfall down to sea level throughout Scotland (although really thin and freeze thaw). The winds continue to batter and bruise and all resorts are mostly shut either due to the wild wind or lack of base depth. I am hopeful that with the snow falling and with the aid of a bit of wind to help accumulation things might be GO GO GO! this weekend. The webcam shot below shows some decent overnight snowfall.
